A Land of Natural Beauty

Virtually everywhere you turn there is some spectacular vista or backdrop, and it's no wonder that the country has developed such a strong film and arts sector in recent times.

People often come to New Zealand to develop a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle, filled with outdoors and adventure.

Because the country is small, many opportunities to get out and about are in your own back yard. Whether your kick is kayaking, surfing, snowboarding, hiking, hang-gliding, mountain biking or endurance sports, you’ll never be far from the opportunity in New Zealand.

Whether your kick is kayaking, surfing, snowboarding, hiking, hang-gliding, mountain biking or endurance sports, you’ll never be far from the opportunity in New Zealand.

Within the country's 14 national parks and dozens of regional and forest parks, the Department of Conservation maintains a network of some 950 back-country ‘huts’ where you can stay overnight. These range from comfortable lodges with gas fireplaces and cookers, to charmingly rustic tin sheds that provide little more than a much-welcome shelter for the night.
